- Alphonso (also: Hapus, Aapoos) — Often called the king of mangoes for its rich aroma and silky, non-fibrous flesh.
- Ambika (also: Amrapali × Janardan Pasand hybrid) — ICAR-bred late-season hybrid (Amrapali × Janardan Pasand) released in 2000 — deep orange flesh, excellent shelf life, well-suited to high-density planting.
- Ataulfo (also: Honey, Champagne, Mango Manila, Ataulfito, Adolfo) — Mexico's signature dessert mango — small, kidney-shaped, with thin yellow skin, famously buttery flesh and an unusually small flat seed. The cultivar that reshaped North America's understanding of mango quality.
- Banganapalli (also: Beneshan, Safeda, Banginapalli, Chappatai) — Andhra Pradesh's flagship mango — large, oval, golden, fibre-free, and the canonical 'sliced mango' fruit of South India. The first Indian mango to win Geographical Indication protection.
- Carabao (also: Manila Mango, Philippine Mango, Manggang Kalabaw) — The Philippines' national mango — long, slim, sickle-shaped, golden when ripe; once recognised by Guinness as the world's sweetest commercial mango. The flagship Filipino cultivar and the focus of the country's mango export industry.
- Chaunsa (also: Chausa, Sweet Chaunsa, White Chaunsa, Honey Chaunsa) — Pakistan's most celebrated export cultivar — intensely sweet, fragrant, with dripping syrupy pulp; the country's flagship mango and the centrepiece of summer gifting culture across Punjab.
- Chausa (also: Chaunsa, Sher Shah's Mango) — Late-season North Indian mango with golden-yellow skin, juicy honeyed flesh, and a thick perfume — eaten by squeezing and sucking the chilled fruit.
- Chok Anan (also: Choc Anan, Chok-Anan, Miracle Mango, Bandam Krua Bai) — Thai cultivar that can bear in and out of season — sometimes called the 'miracle mango' for its near-year-round availability under controlled-flowering programmes. Widely grown across Southeast Asia for off-season export.
- Dasheri (also: Dussehri, Dasheri Aam) — Long, fragrant Lucknow native — fibre-less and intensely sweet, eaten by squeezing the pulp from the skin.
- Fazli (also: Fajli) — An exceptionally large late-season mango (often over 700g, sometimes 1 kg+) from the Malda-Bihar-Bangladesh tri-region; valued more for processing — chutneys, pulps, pickles — than for premium fresh eating.
- Haden — The 1910 Florida seedling that became the genetic parent of most modern commercial mangoes — Tommy Atkins, Kent, Keitt, Palmer all descend from it. The cultivar that reshaped the global mango supply chain.
- Himsagar (also: Khirsapati, Khirsapat) — Bengal's pride — silky-smooth saffron pulp with virtually no fibre; widely considered the equal of Alphonso in flavour and the canonical input for Bengali aam mishti.
- Julie — The most prized mango of the Caribbean — a small dwarf-tree cultivar with intensely sweet, perfumed flesh; the canonical backyard fruit of Trinidad, Saint Lucia, Dominica and Grenada.
- Keitt — Late-season Florida cultivar that stays green even when fully ripe; one of the largest commercial mangoes in the world, beloved in Asian markets as a green-eating mango.
- Kesar (also: Gir Kesar, Kesar Aam) — Recognised by the saffron hue of its pulp; the western Indian flagship cultivar and the second mango after Ratnagiri Alphonso to win Geographical Indication protection.
- Khiao Sawoei (also: Keow Savoy, Khieo Sawoei, Khiew Sawoei) — Thailand's iconic green-skinned mango — eaten unripe-crunchy with chilli-salt-sugar dips, in som tam mamuang salads, or fully ripe when pale-amber and softer.
- Langra (also: Banarasi Langra, Langda) — Banaras-born green-skinned mango that stays green even when ripe — loved for its complex balance of sweetness, acidity, and a faintly resinous aroma.
- Maha Chanok (also: Mahachanok) — Thai hybrid cultivar with an elongated, sunset-coloured fruit and refined fragrance; eaten fresh, sliced over rice desserts, or exported to East Asia.
- Malgova (also: Mulgoba, Mulgoa, Malgoa) — Round, heavy Tamil Nadu cultivar — dense fragrant flesh, unusually small stone, and a defining role in global mango breeding history as the genetic parent of Florida's Haden mango.
- Miyazaki (also: Taiyō no Tamago, Sun's Egg, Irwin Mango) — Japan's flagship luxury mango — tree-ripened Irwin cultivar grown under glasshouse care in Miyazaki Prefecture; top grades sell as gift fruit at department-store prices.
- Nam Dok Mai (also: Flower Water Mango, Nam Dok Mai Si Thong (the golden sub-strain)) — Thailand's signature dessert mango — long, slim, golden-yellow, fibre-free, perfumed; the canonical mango sliced over warm sticky rice with coconut cream in *khao niao mamuang*.
- Okinawan (also: Apple Mango, Irwin, アップルマンゴー) — Japan's warm-climate mango — an Irwin cultivar grown across Okinawa's main islands, famous for vivid red skin and ripe-tropical sweetness. More accessible (and slightly less sweet) than Miyazaki's Taiyō no Tamago grade.
- Palmer (also: Manga Palmer) — Brazil's flagship export cultivar — a Florida-bred Haden descendant grown in the irrigated São Francisco valley; ships counter-seasonally into European supermarkets and dominates the EU mango shelf September–February.
- R2E2 (also: Artoo, Queensland Mango) — Australia's flagship modern mango — large, red-blushed, firm-fleshed, shelf-stable; bred at Queensland DPI in 1991 and now the country's primary export cultivar to East Asia and the Gulf.
- Sindhri (also: Queen of Mangoes) — The first major mango of the Pakistani season — large, oval, pale-skinned, with juicy lemon-gold flesh; often called the 'Queen of Mangoes' to complement Chaunsa's 'King' status.
- Suvarnarekha (also: Sundari, Sona) — Slender, gold-flushed Andhra cultivar celebrated for its glossy skin and balanced sweet-sour profile; popular in coastal Andhra and lower Krishna Godavari delta orchards.
- Tommy Atkins — The most-grown commercial mango in the world — bred for shelf life, colour, and shipping rather than flavour. Mexican Tommy Atkins is the cultivar most US, Canadian, and EU supermarket shoppers picture when they think 'mango'.
- Totapuri (also: Bangalora, Ginimoothi, Sandersha, Killimooku, Collector Mango) — The beaked, tart-sweet workhorse of South Indian mango processing — the dominant pulp-industry cultivar in India, supplying the canned mango concentrate that fuels global mango-flavoured products.
- Vasanji (also: Vasanthi) — Konkan-coast cultivar with intensely aromatic pulp — often passed off as (and sometimes mistaken for) Alphonso; a regional rival rather than a sibling, with a distinct subtler flavour.

- Australia — R2E2 and Kensington Pride dominate Australian production — large, red-blushed fruit grown across Queensland and the Northern Territory, harvested as the northern hemisphere season ends.
- Brazil — Brazil's Vale do São Francisco supplies year-round Tommy Atkins and Palmer to Europe and North America — modern, irrigated, export-driven production.
- Caribbean — Across Dominica, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Jamaica, varieties like Julie, Number 11 and East Indian thrive — small, intensely sweet, and eaten green-with-pepper-and-salt or fully ripe in season.
- India — The world's largest mango producer and the birthplace of the fruit — thousands of named cultivars across regional cuisines, from the Ratnagiri Alphonso to the Lucknow Dasheri.
- Japan — Japan's tropical south — Miyazaki and Okinawa — grows tree-ripened Irwin-cultivar mangoes under glasshouse care; Miyazaki's 'Taiyō no Tamago' (Sun's Egg) is the country's flagship luxury fruit.
- Mexico — Mexico is the top exporter to North America — the Ataulfo (Honey/Champagne) put Mexican mangoes on the global map with its compact stone and rich, butter-yellow flesh.
